The Berger Bungalow: Chicken and the Egg - Marietta

Chicken and the Egg - Marietta
Posted on:9.27.2017

Located directly off Whitlock Avenue in the heart of downtown Marietta, Chicken and the Egg is a farm-to-table dining experience with a "Southern slant." Serving brunch, lunch, dinner, and of course drinks, they elevate traditional comfort food by offering dishes like wild boar meatballs, charred brussels sprouts, roasted beet salad, chicken + waffles, bacon wrapped meatloaf, and braised beef short rib (my favorite!).

I have dined at Chicken and the Egg many times in the past - Ian and I rang in our first New Years together by having dinner at Chicken and the Egg, we have celebrated Mothers Day with our families there, and we have been back countless times for date nights, especially when we lived within walking distance from the restaurant. Our most recent visit was thanks to the DiningOut Atlanta Passbook. This book has helped me explore many new restaurants around the area and it has also allowed us to go back to some of our favorites (like Chicken and the Egg). I love, love, love this book. If you are in the Atlanta area, please let me tell you more about this book - you will love it! The new 2017-2018 book comes out shortly and you would be a fool not to purchase it (and you would definitely be a fool if you didn't use my code to get $ off!).

This last time we dined at Chicken and the Egg, our favorite dish by far was the braised beef short rib, pictured below. It. was. amazing. Take my word for it and just get it! Ian had the stroganoff and wasn't a huge fan. Another person in our party had the chicken + waffles and really enjoyed them. The appetizer dips were great, too and we loved the little dishes they came in them.

Overall, I definitely recommend Chicken and the Egg if you are in the downtown Marietta area! The 'feel' of the restaurant was modern, but still cozy and southern. The food has always been great in the past with no complaints, but we had mixed reviews (just the stroganoff) this past time we dined there, and the service has always been great. I apologize in advance about the poor quality of the pictures below, but I just could not get great lighting this night, but please check them out!!!
