The Berger Bungalow: How You Can Help During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

How You Can Help During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Posted on:9.19.2016

From what I have heard, when you become a parent, your priorities change immediately. Your most prized possessions aren’t your playstations, purses, cars, or clothes anymore. Instead, the most important thing to you becomes your children, your family. If you do not have children, put yourself in the shoes of a parent. Imagine sitting in a hospital with your child only to find out that they have cancer. You feel helpless, you wish you could take their place, and you are lost and don’t know what to do. So many parents go through this daily. According to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer. Cancer actually takes more children's lives than any other disease in the U.S. Thankfully, we have a glimmer of hope to improve this statistic! Getting out the word, and donating money to help research are just two small ways that you can help. During the month of September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I urge you to talk about these scary facts to spread the news, wear Gold (and post a picture with the hashtag #KidsAreGold) to honor these brave children who have fought, or are currently fighting cancer, and donate to help fight cancer!

If you do not know where to donate, I have you covered!
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds the most promising cancer research just for kids. They are the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, and they are determined to give children with cancer a chance at having long, healthy lives. Each and every child in this world deserves a future without cancer, which is why St. Baldricks funds millions of dollars in research each year.  They truly believe that Kids Are Gold and deserve to be treated that way!
